In the year 1926, during the period when present-day Sonatala Thana was under the then Sariakandi Thana, a wise and respected woman of Shicharpara village in Jorgacha Union, Mrs. Mosammat Buljan Nessa, took the noble initiative of educating the large uneducated population of the area. She generously donated 7,000 (seven thousand) taka for this cause.
With this fund, the eminent residents of Shicharpara village, along with members of the Shova Club, built a madrasa building on 0.63 acres (sixty-three decimals) of land donated by Mr. Md. Rahim Uddin Molla and Mr. Md. Sofat Ullah Mondal. The madrasa was named “Shicharpara Buljan Junior Madrasa.” Educational activities, including regular classes, began to operate in an orderly manner.
Later, in 1944, the donors officially transferred the ownership of the land to the madrasa through a deed of gift. As a result, many students were able to pursue their education at the institution.
At a later stage, Mr. Md. Yad Ali Fakir donated 0.08 acres (eight decimals) of land to the institution. With the thoughtful advice and guidance of many dignitaries of the time, the madrasa was converted into a Lower Secondary School in 1962, aiming to promote widespread education in the region.
Encouraged by this mission, many individuals contributed further donations of land and money. Among them:
Mr. Md. Tafiz Uddin donated 0.05 acres (five decimals)
Mr. Md. Azizur Rahman Mondal, Mr. Md. Bosher Uddin, Mr. Samsul Rahman Mondal, and Mrs. Gendi Bribi together donated 0.22 acres
Mr. Md. Amor Ali, former Member of Parliament, donated 0.40 acres
Mr. Md. Derash Uddin Mondal donated 0.082 acres
An additional 0.16 acres of land was also donated
Through these generous land and cash donations, the school expanded over time, and in 1968, it was upgraded to a full-fledged high school and renamed “Shicharpara Buljan Dwi-Mukhi High School.”
